Professore Ordinario presso il Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università G. d’Annunzio di Chieti-Pescara. Direttore del Dipartimento di Architettura (2020-2023). Presidente del Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Architettura (2015-2020) e Delegato Erasmus di Dipartimento (2008-2020). Project Manager del progetto europeo Erasmus+ KA2 TACEESM (2021-2023). Responsabile di convenzioni internazionali con la University of Waterloo, AACUPI, BURCH University di Sarajevo, University of Belgrade, University of Maribor, University of Zagreb. Visiting Professor e Professor Emeritus della University of Waterloo (Canada), già direttore del Rome Programme (1988-2008).
Svolge attività di ricerca legata alla riqualificazione dei vuoti urbani, al recupero delle aree dismesse ed alla trasformazione dei luoghi della produzione. In questo ambito ha svolto lavori di indagine e studio, organizzato workshops internazionali di progettazione, conferenze, mostre ed altre iniziative culturali e scientifiche. In particolare, ha affrontato lo studio degli insediamenti produttivi all’interno della fascia costiera adriatica, definendo sia le modalità di trasformazione degli stessi e le strategie di sviluppo sostenibile per nuove forme insediative.
È stato responsabile scientifico di un consistente numero di workshops ed attività didattiche e di ricerca sperimentali con varie Università del bacino adriatico, tra cui le Facoltà di Architettura di Lubiana, Zagabria, Spalato, Sarajevo, Tirana e Patrasso. In questo ambito si annoverano i workshop internazionali tenuti in Italia e nei paesi balcanici, tra cui “Transforming the Landscape” (2007), “Adriatic Identities” (2009), “The Waterfront in Durres – Albania”(2010), “Patching the City – Rijeka – Public L”(2011) e “A Vision for the Waterfronts in Split”((2013). Tutto questo lavoro è stato pubblicato in “Transforming the Landscape: Il Progetto di Trasformazione nei luoghi della Produzione” (Gangemi, 2011) ed in “Progetti Lungo la linea di costa: Identità Adriatiche” (Lista Lab, 2014) e “Crossing Sightlines. Traguardare l’Adriatico” (Aracne, 2017).
Autore dei volumi Modernità nei Balcani (2019) e Sarajevo_An Account of a City (2019, con S. Gruosso).
Responsabile di ricerche sulla città creativa e la rigenerazione urbana.
Progettista premiato in numerosi concorsi di architettura e spazi pubblici in Italia e all’estero, tra cui Piazza San Cosimato a Roma, Tabacchificio Centola a Pontecagnano, Piazza Fratelli Palma a Ostia-Saline.
Ha svolto attività professionale a Roma, con interventi su edifici istituzionali e residenze private.

Visiting Professor and Professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo (Canada), previously Director of the Rome Programme (1988–2008). He carries out research activities focusing on the regeneration of urban voids, the redevelopment of abandoned areas, and the transformation of former production sites. In this field, he has conducted studies, organized international design workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and other cultural and scientific initiatives. In particular, he has focused on the study of industrial settlements along the Adriatic coast, defining strategies for their transformation and sustainable development for new settlement models.
Scientific coordinator of numerous workshops and experimental educational and research activities with various Adriatic universities, including the Faculties of Architecture in Ljubljana, Zagreb, Split, Sarajevo, Tirana, and Patras.
